smart anemometer shows wrong values

nanni

Hi I just bought a Netatmo smart anemometer but it seems to be completely off.

I installed it on the roof and was wondering about the high values when there was no wind so I put it into a box in the house. Still it is showing wind speeds of about 10 km/h.

Does someone has a solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Same here: in the last few days the wind speed dat is high also when there is no wind. I bought the anemometer few months ago and the reads were correct before.

It is really weird, I deleted it and reconnected it - then it was working for a day but now it is back to the high data. Showing 12 kmh indoor!

Same here: I bought the anemometer a few weeks ago and when I have it inside the house it shows wind speeds of 7 km/h, even on restart, when it should read 0 km/h. How do I get in touch with Netatmo technical support?

Installed new anemometer and it is connected but showing no wind direction and 1mph wind speed, despite a fair breeze.

Netatmo don’t appear to be interested in the problems their customers face.

Recently installed a new anemometer, which consistently shows 2mph, even thought there is a near gale taking place. Old style anemometer shows a far higher reading.

Installed my first anemometer today, completing my setup over several years with outside temp and rain gauge. Anemometer installed on top of the chimney on my house, and shows off the charts readings; 33m/s (equals 74mph, hurricane).

While on the roof I could feel the barely noticeable wind heading from the south - but the anemometer claims wind direction from north east (although the arrow on the gauge points to true north).

Any clue how to fix this?

Same experience on my site! Today it‘s very windy / stormy outside (up to 50 km/h) and the anemometer just shows 2-4 km/h!!??? My plan was to use it for my blinds at the windows together with the Somfy products, but this isn‘t reliable!!

And no reaction or feedback to those comments from the manufacturer Netatmo isn‘t customer-friendly.

Netatmo only give you advices like the Standard height should be 10 Meters (??!!!) and the following ones:

    1)
    „ Unpair the Module:

Remove the module from the app.
    Absorb Moisture:

Take out the batteries from the module.
Place the module in a sealed container with a natural dehumidifier, such as uncooked rice, for 48 hours.
    Test with New Batteries:

After 48 hours, insert new batteries into the compartment and check if the module flashes.
    Restart the Main Module:

Unplug and replug your main module.
    Re-add the Module:

Go to the app: Settings > Install New Products > Station Accessories and follow the instructions to add the module.
Keep the module close to the station for 48 hours to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
If the issue persists after completing these steps, please send us photos of the module's location within your home. This will help us better understand the environment and identify potential factors affecting its performance.“

    2)
„ According to the WMO, the standard height at which the wind should be measured is 10 meters on an open field. These are the conditions in which weather forecasts are calculated and where airports take their measurements. The reason is that the closer we are to ground level, the more the wind speed reduces as there are obstacles or irregularities on the terrain, such as buildings or trees which create turbulence.

To benefit from acceptable measurement conditions, we advise you to place your wind gauge 1 meter above the highest point of your house and ensure that the wind gauge is unobstructed all around it (360°).

To compensate for the wind speed measured by your Wind gauge, you can enter the height at which you have installed it in the Weather app, in Settings > Manage my Home > Room > Wind gauge > Wind speed compensation.“

In my opinion that don‘t have a Solution for this or the product is not made for measuring the wind in a simple/normal way. Because all others can do it in a normal height 2-3m
