IR Ligths

migmaragu
I have a problem with the IR lights of my NETATMO exterior camera. Sometimes it works and some times not. I think is a software issue because, after a period of time, changing the intensity of the floodlight, and switching light on and off several times, the IR mode returns to its normal function. But it is erratic. Anybody can help me?

I have the same issue with 2 Presence cameras. They now do not detect or show anything after dark unless the floodlight is activated. Rebooted once with no change. I will play with the floodlight settings but if it could be fixed with a software update that would be great.

    I found this https://techqg.com/probleme-camera-netatmo/

Specifically, the suggestion to do factory reset, though if the problem is software based perhaps it will reoccur with automatic software update. But worth trying.

    Relevant section of advice below:

    4. Netatmo Presence of Infrared Problem

If the infrared system breaks down, it is generally a bad sign since this cannot be changed on a surveillance camera. You will easily recognize the problem since your nighttime images will be almost unreadable since they are very dark, or even completely black.

First of all, remember to turn off the power (about 1 minute) to the camera in order to restart it. Then try to reset it using the red QR code provided. If you still do not obtain usable nighttime images, you will have confirmation that the problem is indeed coming from there .

If the camera is still under warranty, contact the reseller or Netatmo after-sales service.

I’m having same problem with IR and will try reset ASAP. I’m also having similar problem with the indoor cam which needs setting up again and again every few weeks and each time it takes ages to do its thing. I think Netatmo and I will be parting company soon

    UPDATE:
Since my last post, I have tried different solutions. Definitely I think if a software issue.
I have the application Security for IOS in my iPhone. After resetting the camera, I disconnected this application with Apple Home, by disabling the option “access Home Data” in settings, and the problem has disappeared at the moment.

The same problem with the IR light, started a year ago on one camera with increasingly frequent IR failures. Now it has started doing it on the second camera as well and it keeps getting worse. The phone is Android and the cameras are out of warranty, it sounds like a broken contact or something to me

Mine has suddenly started working again after about 3 weeks ! No rhyme or reason. I’m keeping it at the moment but I invested in 2 Eufy solo220 solar cams one alongside the netatmo and so far it’s all good. Half the price of the netatmo for 2 ! No homekit compatibility yet but I’m fixing that next by getting the Homebase for them. Brilliant picture night and day only downside is no flood light but the night vision is superb

I have/had a similar problem. One of my two exterior cameras just showed dark at night two weeks ago. Daytime was OK, manually switching floodlight on and off was possible. The red light inside the floodlight was visible in the dark (I assume these are the IR emitters)

I switched off the camera multiple times, up to 15 minutes ==> no change. The support could not really help. I didn't do a factory reset.

But suddenly the night vision was working again, without any action on my side. I just saw that the setting to detect persons, cars, animals was now different to before.

    Thet's not inspiring confidence...

I do not understand the origin of the problem; but after the update to the latest firmware -3.22.00-; the IR night vision and the floodlight definitely stopped working. Previously it worked ramdomly.
The camera is connected because I can see a dark image and It works with daylight perfectly, but I cannot switch on the light manually any more and IR night vision is not available any more either.
Hearing carefully the sound of the camera from the monitor: I can hear the typical sound of a switch turning on and off, when I change the focus selection manually from the Security software application; but nothing happens.

Neither Netatmo, nor Legrand have provided any solution to this issue. Anybody has a clue to solve it?

I have installed a Zarek brand solar LED light (bought on Amazon for AUD 37) near the Presence. It doesn't have quite the IR reach but light is very bright. Once the Zarek turns on the Netatmo is able to identify a person/car/animal. Surprisingly the Presence floodlight also switches on and continues to work as it did in the past, even after the Zarek turns off.

It is annoying to have to use this workaround but with two Netamo Presence installed there is a significant investment and I live in the hope that the software will be fixed one day.
