Android Energy App Not Working
I'm losing faith with Netatmo, I've made a significant investment in their kit:
2 * Presence Cameras
1 * Welcome Camera
2 * Thermostats
6 * Radstats (Plus 2 not installed)
For the last 10 days or so, and as reported (many times) on this website the alert notifications for the Presence cameras no longer correctly function and many users are rapidly losing faith in the product.
Then a couple of days ago I found that the Android Energy app no longer functioned, going straight to the startup Settings page when opened. I left it a few hours and fortunately it came back of its own accord, i.e. without me making any changes, but this evening the same problem and this time it will not clear.
I can still adjust the thermostats by logging into my account using Windows but that isn't really practical.
I'm losing a lot of functionality with Netatmo products and I’m not happy!!

That's at least two of us then - same problem with thermostats. How do I log in through windows to control the stats - I want to adjust them today before a visit tomorrow?
If you have an account try:

Already got there, but thanks, appreciate your reply. Now loaded new home and control app and able to also connect on phone again.

What happens is that if I uninstall the app and reinstall it, it works. As soon as I close it and reopen it, it goes again to the Settings page, I tried this more times, no way, it seems that the only way to use the app is to continuously unistall, reinstall, use it once and uninstall and reinstall again.
I hope they will correct this problem soon!
I have the same issue too. First of all the app kept taking me to the setup screen, and now it's telling me I have no devices installed at all. Add to that the fact that the display on my thermostat has just failed (apparently a common fault after 4 years). To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
So in the end I decided to go back through the entire install process, starting with reinstalling my relay (using the usb cable) and then adding my thermostat and valves back into their rooms (which had disappeared) in the app. It all seems to be working again now.
Just the display on my thermostat to sort out now!
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it didn't help. It still takes me straight to the setup wizzard as soon as I sign in with my credentials.
The web app also does not work for me (https://home.netatmo.com/control/dashboard). I have the outside and inside sensors for temperature and humidity and I can see only those sensors. Nowhere is my thermostat or valves.
I would have no problem in doing the setup again, but does this mean I would loose my history? I so much liked that I could see how the temperature varied in the past years and how much gas was consumed throughout the year and for each room. I really don't want to loose that.
Any response from someone at Netatmo? Or a method to contact support for this problem?
That's where I ended up too, with none of my valves, thermostat or relay visible online. Used the downloadable windows app to install the relay (which you do with a mini usb cable) and that got everything visible, but not named or allocated to any rooms. Noted: the app gave me the option to keep my network settings, which I did.
So then I went through the setup on the android app, which was easy seeing as that's what it wanted me to do. I had to create my rooms again during setup and allocate my devices - and then it all started working again. Luckily my data came back too (heating history and schedules) but I can't promise it'll be the same for you.
I've found another Android application from the same Legrand company called Home+Control. I installed it, the login is the same of the Energy app and it shows everything as it is, all rooms and data. The user interface is slightly different and slightly less user friendly but as far as I can see it allows to do everything as before. For now I will use this one, waiting for something to happen on the other one or to have time to go through the setup again.
The app from Legrand didn't work either. After signing in successfully with the same account as in Energy app, I am presented with the same kind of screen to install a new product. My old devices are nowhere to be seen.
What's happeneing, Netatmo? I am loosing my confidence in this brand. Makes me regret I recommended it till now to friends.
I've found that if you find the Energy App taking you to the Settings section the best thing to do is leave it Touch Nothing!! It can take more than a few hours to recover but it will.
Flakey software with limited beta testing I'm afraid.
Definitely the best approach Peter, but it had been 4 days without any control over my heating - So I didn't feel like I had any choice, other than to take matters into my own hands :)
If it hadn't worked, I was already prepared to rip the system out and replace it.
Mine was the second entry in this chain. I must have got lucky or did I?
Initially the energy app was taking me to the set up screen, and I was unable to log in on line. Sorted the second of these issues out (good to remember one has changed email address, DOH!) so that I could control the heating. At that point, the energy app still misbehaved, even after reinstall. Instead, deleted Energy, installed Home and Control app and logged in; that immediately picked up all data and restored remote control via phone. Then reinstalled Energy app and logged in; also fully functional straight away. I believe all data is stored on line with account (nothing held in app?) so shouldn't need to start reprogramming devices -just have to get properly logged in. Of course, that doesn't explain the original problem at all.
I confirm, I reinstalled again the Energy app and now it works. I opened, closed, opened, closed a few times and it seems to keep working...
No sorry, it stopped working again... Home+Control keeps working.
Does anyone from netatmo is following this thread (so we can hope they will fix it) ?
Same issue
Same issue here as well. Also, my heating scheduling settings were messed up with heating turned on when it was not supposed to be.
I also lost all heating history (couple of years)…
Real mess! Is anyboyd from Netatmo watching this thread at all?
Same Settings page for me, but before I came to this forum I deleted some devices.
Anyone knows how to recover old settings (programming, room names, etc)? Yesterday (or last month) settings would be fine.
Is it possible to recover the historical data of the measurements?
Thanks in advance!
I have the same Energy App related problem taking me to the setup page as of today (29.04.2024). I've opened a support ticket with Netatmo. If they get back to me I'll post it here for all to see.
To me it's got all the hallmarks of a data migration gone wrong. Perhaps to support the work they're doing on the Web App? We'll probably never know.
Hope they sort you out. Mine's been fine (touch wood) since I reinstalled my setup.
@looks - I got all my historical data back when I did the reinstall (with the exception that some of my schedule data wasn't quite right). I was careful to use the same names for everything, and that may have helped (or not).
Thanks for your messages.
@johns.gerard I reinstalled my setup with the names the Energy App proposed (I did not remember old names) and everything was right again. The schedule program and the historical data were as if nothing happened, even the room names were right. Thanks for sharing!
Hi @Looks.. thanks for sharing, that's interesting to know. Glad to hear you're back up and running again.
I wasn't that lucky. I reset the relay, as instructed by the support team, and completed the wizard to add again my relay in the app. After the wizard all my rooms were there and all the valves. But no history. The support team has said that I can safely add the relay back as I wouldn't lose any history.
They are saying that it is my fault that I have somehow deleted my relay by mistake from the app as that causes the history to be removed. That is nonsense, I haven't done such a thing. How could I have done that by mistake? It's not a simple operation.
They have instructed me to go to the web portal and download my history from there, but that was not possible as none of my rooms, valves or the relay were visible in there. I have tried reinstalling the Android app, installing the Legrand app, logging into the web portal.
I am done with Netatmo. I am moving to another system as soon as I can. I regret having recommended the system to others. Their valves are really not good, I have at least 1 relay in 4 failing each year and needing replacement.
I have two problems now with Netatmo devices. The screen on one of my thermostats is no longer functioning; it is a jumble of faded pixels. The graph function is working only intermittently on one of my thermostats and not at all on the other. Any ideas out there?
