Anemometer draining batteries

daniel.gawerski
New set of batteries lasts for about three days only. This is my second unit as previous one get water inside top part after a few months outside and stop working but this one seems to be fine battery compartment is dry so there little chance to be wet on the top part working fine every time I put new batteries on. There was a software update in March it may be related? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Daniel, please check if you have moisture inside the top part.
I guess following happens: battery parts isn't sealed that well, so moisture enters, but: It cannot harm anything, as it's only the battery part.
But by heat, the battery part heats up and moisture evaporates - into the central core, which acts as hollow cable tunnel to the top part. The moisture will this way enter the top part - during the night the moisture will condensate. The condensate will then get onto the electronics, but also into the anemometer covers, were it will get visible as droplets.

Moisture can be really a problem - so check if you have moisture inside the top part by checking if there are droplets visible at the four sensor covers

Thanks for the reply this is second unit failure within the two years first proper flooded top part this second one does not have any visible water inside top part and still draining batteries within two days even when unit is inside the house but the best part is that they refused repair and f…. me off telling me that replacement unit is not covered by a two year warranty because is not a purchase WTF spend hundred pounds and got nothing when I asked for formal explanation about warranty for replacement goods they offer me 10% off (can buy cheaper from different shops than price with the discount) and close the ticket. So be careful and consider different options
