Rain gauge not working

I have a new Netatmo weather station with base station, outdoor temp. module and rain gauge. I installed the rain gauge and it was working for 1 day. I moved it and in the process took the batteries out, obviously a big mistake, as now it will not connect to the base station. I've had this system for just over a week, and don't expect this sort of trouble as a result. I have adjusted the distance between the rain gauge and the base station as stated in the manual with no success. I need help.
