Reset QR code has no effect - is the camera dead?

troels

I have received a reset (and setup) QR code from support, and I am showing it to my Netatmo Presence Outdoor Camera (older model).

With a freshly formatted SD card, it turns off and on. Without an SD card, the light stays on for a minute or so before turning off.

During that minute, I show the QR code to the camera, but nothing happens. When trying to add the camera in the app, it is unable to detect it.

Can I conclude that the camera no longer works, or are there any further troubleshooting steps I can take?

"Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, as some devices are not compatible with other frequencies."

"Make sure there is enough ambient light for the camera to read the code."

"If using a repeater, ensure it doesn't have the same network name (SSID) as your router. "

( kill power to router then try again ....
Apparently might take 30 mins to read the QR code - yeah you will look daft waving the QR code in front of a camera that you don't know is working or not ....it can miraculously come back to life !)

Mine has gone again after electrician switched on and off .....I am waiting for the helpline to send me a new QR code as mine has a wrinkle on the sticker ...they did respond with suggestions, but maybe they are too busy ....

Meanwhile I do not want to install my new siren presence until my electrician upgrades my fuseboard so I have a installed S120 eu fy solar powered siren cam temporarily - great video but position limited by solar charging

Please let us know what you did - if you manage to get it fixed 🙏

I have had the same issue as the original poster. The camera has disconnected from the wifi, and will not reinstall with the QR code.

I have tried removing the device from my Apple HomeKit and reinstalling but that didn’t work.

I have four of the same cameras - three of them are fine. There is no issue with WiFi coverage.

I’m still waiting for a QR code and have installed 2 solar charged eu.fy S120 floodlight cams temporarily to provide cover .(subscription free and high quality if you can position in sun ) .
I read somewhere to try showing the qr code and standing with phone as far away from router so it will connect w 2.4ghz instead of 5ghz or use an older model phone like iPhone 6 as new phones pick up 5ghz

I have the same issue (with a model just a couple off month old). I got the original QR code, but the camera looks dead. After a hard reset (removing the SD card, remove power, wait 2 minutes, turn it on, and after 30 seconds it's a constant flash light for a minute or so. Not flashing, what it has supposed to do. It looks like a power circuit defect, but still no reaction from Netatmo in my ticket. But can someone confirm, that a constant light confirms it's a powercircuit issue? Or is there still hope?

The help centre can respond a little late (5-10 days ).

I saw this on google AI

“A Netatmo Presence camera displaying a constant light during set up typically indicates one of two conditions, depending on the light's intensity.
If the light is glowing on and off (pulsing)
The camera is in pairing mode and is ready to be set up using the app.
This mode starts automatically when the camera is first powered up and unconfigured. It lasts for about 15 minutes.
If you need to re-enter pairing mode, you can do so manually by showing the Installation QR code to the camera.
Follow the instructions in the Netatmo Home + Security app to complete the setup.

If the light is constantly on with a weak intensity
This indicates an issue with the microSD card.
The card may be absent or defective.
To resolve this, you may need to check the microSD card. Power off the camera at the circuit breaker, wait 30 seconds, then check, reinsert, or replace the card.

    General Troubleshooting Steps

If the light behavior doesn't match the descriptions above or the issue persists, try these steps:

Reboot the camera: Disconnect the power to the camera at the fuse box or circuit breaker, wait 30 seconds, and then power it back on.
Check power source: Ensure the switch that controls the power to the camera is set to "on" at all times, as the Presence needs a permanent power supply.
Verify network settings: Ensure your router is set to WPA2 security and has the 2.4GHz band enabled, as Netatmo products are only compatible with these settings.
Avoid third-party app conflicts: If you are using smart home platforms like Apple HomeKit, ensure that settings within those apps (e.g., light set to "on") are not overriding the Netatmo app's automation rules.
If you continue to experience problems, contact Netatmo technical support for further assistance.”

You should be covered by warranty .

As far as SD card - you must apply dielectric grease ( can get a tube online from that big US seller )
