false alarm from Smart Indoor Air Quality Monitor

Why does Home Coach send notifications about elevated carbon monoxide levels 3-4 times a day, but only for a short moment before it returns to normal each time, and what can I do? It has worked flawlessly for many years, but not for the past month.
