5001 error from Home Assistant Homekit integration for Legrand by Netamo
Hello,
I have been using the “Legrand by Netatmo” solution for my smart lighting for many years. The system works very well on its own.
For several months now, I have set up a Home Assistant (HAOS) instance running on a virtual machine hosted on a Synology NAS. I integrated the Legrand bridge via the HomeKit protocol in order to avoid using the Netatmo cloud, which performs very poorly, with recurring API errors and noticeable latency in reporting the “real-time” status of devices.
Since the beginning of the year, I have been experiencing errors with the Legrand bridge related to this HomeKit integration:
Error while connecting to device ['192.168.74.231']:5001: Connection timeout
I am able to restore the situation either by:
- restarting the Legrand bridge, or
- disabling Wi-Fi to force the Legrand bridge to lose its network connection.
The bridge is currently running software version 1303.
Thank you for your support.

Hello,
5001 looks like a port, it's not an error code (on our side, that's sure). The "connection timeout" error looks like a lot to "unresponsive state" that some users have in their HomeKit app. The support team did a documentation about points to check :
So, seems like that from time to time the Legrand hub and the HK hub lose communication and are not able to retrieve it automatically. The teams investigated this point but didn't find any relevant solution to this. I invite you to check the points I mentioned above

Thank you, Leslie, for your quick reply.
I can confirm that 5001 is a port and not an error code. It is indeed port 5001 on the Legrand bridge (I have the model with the in‑wall connected socket) that goes into a “timeout” for no particular reason. A connection test such as telnet responds correctly nonetheless.
For your information, I’ve been an IT consultant for 20 years, so I’m fully comfortable with everything related to networking (LAN, Wi‑Fi) as well as my own equipment (L2/L3 switches, Wi‑Fi access points, NAS).
My latest workaround to get HomeKit working again is to block the Legrand bridge from my Wi‑Fi (temporary blacklist on my access point) in order to force the bridge to reconnect to the network.
I do not own any Apple devices. The HomeKit connection is initiated by Home Assistant through the HomeKit integration:

A ticket has been opened on the Home Assistant side, as many of us are experiencing this timeout issue on port 5001.
