Outdoor Module still drains batteries
My outdoor module (about 5 years old) drains batteries according to the closed post "Outdoor Module drains batteries"
It looks like I have the same problem as user kubac2121 described, and I suspect the other users responding to the post probably have the same reason for their problem.
I could try to obtain the necessary capacitor to replace the faulty one. But, it's a lot of work, and I could buy a new unit instead. Then I would need to know if Netatmo have changed its design for better ESD protection first?

Mijn batterijen in mijn buitenmodule van mijn thermometer gaan nog maar 4 dagen mee.
Wat kan ik hier mee doen om dit op te lossen.

d.ship - if you go to the linked post in my post, you will find that a lot of people have the same problem as us. The module is probably shot because of bad circuit design regarding ESD protection. You could change the capacitor that is probably the culprit, according to Kubac2121's description in the same article, but you need some skills. You should probably just give up and never buy Netatmo again, because they will probably not give you an answer here.
My reason for posting a new article was to know if they had changed the circuit design so it would be safe to buy a new one.
Hello, after a bad experience with buying a used set and the repeated too fast discharge of the outdoor module, I bought the original, however now I have exactly the same problem with the outdoor module, the new batteries last a maximum of 7 days. Can you advise me what the problem is, or is this standard behavior after about 5 years of operation? After reading the discussions, I suspect that this is probably completely normal, I just don't understand it completely, I would expect a different standard for almost the most expensive weather station on the market!!! Thank you. MR.
Accept it as gone. Netatmo will not answer here when they know that the product they are still selling is poorly designed. Move to another brand that is better. Their products have not changed or been updated since conception.
My handle here (netatmo.com) is only the email address here. I'm not afiliatedf in any way with the company Netatmo
I have same issue and the battery draining impacts two indoor modules. Past year the indoor module started to drain batteries within 2-3 weeks so I bought a new-one, which unfortunately having the same issue. I have also main indoor unit, outdoor unit, rain gauge ad wid gauge all bought and in operation few years now an the batteries last very longtime, I did not recorded but replacing them very randomly, once in a year or even year and half. So it seems that my “old” devices are ok, just the new-ones draining battery so I am stuck. It would be really great if Netatmo support check these issues.
just to add that new design is different than one on the above photos
Hi, I have the same problem with my out door modul. Changed new battery but inactive very low battery level. If I want to purchase a new modul?and have the new modul the same problem as the old one? Have Netamo upgraded the outdoor module lately? What is the price for a new outdoor module?
Have a nice day
To "swrobe" and "stevicad"
The majority of people here have reported problems with the outdoor module. It seems that the module has poor protection against electromagnetic discharge but there could also be other problems like the ones with indoor modules that stevicad reported.
To my knowledge, Netatmo has not changed any SW related to this problem. This is mainly an HW problem.
To my knowledge, Netatmo has never answered anything on this forum, and I do not think they read it anymore.
The Netatmo product is old and their service is old. At one time their products were the best out there, but now the competition is way better. Especially, their service is old and restricted. They will keep on selling their products as long as enough people are buying them, because they are now very cheap to produce. There is no evidence that there has been any research and development done in a long time so I suspect there is a cheap skeleton crew keeping the lights on as long as people keep on buing. When there isn't anymore, they will just disappear and the service with it. Get out and on another platform before this happens...
