Netatmo Smart Indor Camera - Download the video files

roberto.catto

Hello everyone,

I'm writing to you because unfortunately, someone broke into my house and stole my indoor cameras, but luckily I managed to recover them.

However, I can't read the SD cards or download the files.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can help me.

The SD card is encrypted with a key unique to each camera. You will only be able to view the content of the SD card in the camera that it was formatted with. If the camera has been reset or broken, I don't believe it will be possible to recover the content of the SD card.

In the future, consider configuring FTP or Dropbox for your cameras so that your videos are offloaded to external storage that is protected from theft or damage.

    Hello xpxp2002,

Thank you very much for your support and help. The cameras should be working, and theoretically, so should the SD cards, but I couldn't find the videos on the web app. Theoretically, the data was supposed to be copied to iCloud (I specifically got the 2TB subscription for this), but I can't find anything there either. To view the contents of the SD cards, should I connect them to the home Wi-Fi or via USB cable? Is it possible that they interfered with the Wi-Fi to prevent data transmission? I don't understand why they went to the trouble of disconnecting them and leaving them a short distance away (in the garden) without even removing the SD card. Could they have tampered with them (perhaps with a very powerful magnet or something like that)? Thank you again for your time and support.

    Best regards,

    Roberto

It sounds like you are describing HomeKit Secure Video. That will also take recordings and upload them to iCloud. It sounds like you have a subscription that includes recording for an unlimited number of cameras. As long as you also have a relatively modern Apple TV or HomePod and configured the cameras to record in the Apple Home app, it should be saving recordings to iCloud.

There is a brief delay while the recording data uploads through the Home Hub to iCloud, so if the cameras were disconnected within a few seconds of detecting the intruders, it's possible that the recordings were not captured. The same would be true of the internal SD card storage, Dropbox, and FTP; since the cameras would have lost power before having the opportunity to save or upload the captured video.

If recordings were captured and successfully uploaded to iCloud, they are accessible within the camera view of each camera in Apple's Home app for 10 days.

    View video

    1. On the Home tab, tap the camera tile.

      Live video should play automatically.

    2. If you’ve chosen to record video with your HomeKit Secure Video camera, swipe through the timeline at the bottom of the screen to browse recorded clips.

    3. Tap a clip to play it.

    4. Tap Live to switch back to live video.

Is this still on my camera SD card?
