Netatmo Presence Outdoor Camera - completely unreliable
Hello everyone,
I have been using a Netatmo Presence outdoor camera for almost three years.
In the beginning, the camera reliably registered and recorded every movement, no matter how small. The notifications came to my smartphone (Android) with minimal delay. Unfortunately, the camera is now completely useless as a security system.
People and vehicles are regularly not registered or recorded and the notifications are sent with a long delay, if at all.
I have been patient and waited for several firmware updates and app updates, but things have not improved at all.
It's a shame as the look of the Netatmo Presence is excellent and all the features have worked flawlessly in the past. I would like to continue using the camera, but if the function is not guaranteed, I will have to replace it with a competitor's product.
Looking at other posts here on the forum, I am not alone with these problems.
Therefore, on behalf of the other users, I would like to ask for a solution to these problems.

I have switched off the intelligent notification in the Android Security App, now the alarms are coming very promptly again.

I already tried this with minimal effect at best.
The failure to recognize events is more serious.
Came here to see if others have noticed a decline in the performance of the cameras and seems I'm not alone. Obviously the delays in notification are still longer than they were previously and the recording lengths shortened and seemingly capped at around 40secs max, but now there seems to be a more serious issue with overall activity being ignored.
In my particular case, I have a presence installed on both the Front and rear of my property. Both have worked for many years without major issues, and we've relied heavily on our front camera monitoring the driveway overnight and being able to review alerts confident that any and all vehicle/person movements are recorded. This has picked up several potential acts of criminality in the early hours we would otherwise have been unaware of and given us confidence in the Netatmo system.
However since the more recent updates to the camera/app I am finding that most activity that occurs actually on our driveway within the property boundary is ignored, this includes obvious things like myself or my partner leaving and returning to the driveway in our cars, exiting the property on foot etc.
Other random activity of more distant pedestrians/vehicles passing by the end of our driveway does seem to be alerted/recorded more effectively so why not our more obvious direct movements on the property?? These previously were very reliably alerted/recorded, even minor twig movements or headlight reflections were picked up erroneously beforehand...now nothing.
From a setup pov, we had the camera FOV divided up into three separate alert zones to reduce false alerts from some foliage/reflections and thought something may have changed here, so I went back in and reset this to just the single alert zone for the whole camera view and still no improvement in the recording of on property movements.
So what is going on Netatmo.....currently this system is extremely unreliable and is a liability from a Security pov!
I have the same experience with performance decrease.
Seems these forums are useless as well because I’ve yet to see any response from a netatmo/le grand technical assistant
I also have an apparently defective camera,
first the IR stopped, now there is not even a picture anymore... but old videos work normally
Tried numerous times to reconfigure wifi on outdoor camera. Indoor camera easily done. Tried every step and QR code numerous times, why is this so hard.
I too am disappointed with this camera. Six years old and the optical part of the camera has failed. I was told to inform the retailer (John Lewis) but I'm not going to waste my time as it is out of warranty. The Netatmo blurb states that they are made to last. They are not.
On 7th December my Netatmo Presence stopped working after 6 years. Coincidentally it was during Storm Darragh. It lights up when switching it on but there is no recognition of the QR code and no image. It seems as though the optical component of the camera has failed. This is contrary to the advertising blurb stating that it is a robust security camera built to last.
Technical support has told me that the problem is hardware failure which cannot be repaired. I have been offered a 25% discount code off my next purchase even though there is a 25% discount code already available (and even a 30% Christmas discount code available).
Poor response and an obvious lack of technical knowledge.
I might give them a second chance (but maybe not).
Come on Netatmo, get your act together and act professionally.
My old netatmo presence started disconnecting off and on frequently and I found this was related to my broadband dropping off from 11 to 3Mbps . Ever since having fibre at 200 Mbps , the dropout hasn't been an issue unless after a power cut .
Normally a reboot of fuse board helped reconnect the camera .
However during a very intense hot day , the electricity got cut off for 10 -15 seconds and then my camera failed.
No lights , no recording , not recognising QR code , not able to add to Homekit as QR code had a wrinkle on cardboard copy inside box , plus photos of QR code didn't work .
I rebooted broadband, tried to isolate 2.4band on iphone rebooted the fuse isolation switch . Tried replacing the MicroSD card ....but nothing!
Decided to purchase a new floodlight with siren .
My broadband went off line 24 hrs and we had a new electric smart meter installed.
Low and behold the old floodlight starts working and recording ! .....
Unbelievable !
Now I can continue watching the local wildlife and cats come and go ....
Having bitten the bullet and bought a new Presence after the original one failed optically I have now got problems with the new one. It won't upload videos to my Dropbox account. I have been messaging back and forward with Netatmo technical and, after a lot of switching on and off, unlinking etc. etc. the message comes back that it is an issue at the Netatmo end.
I don't know why we're posting these messages as nobody at Netatmo is reading them and, if they are, they're not interested in problems.

I completely agree as this site gives the impression that you will get a response from a technical advisor or fellow user but certainly on the floodlight section most answers are unanswered.

I too have purchased a new camera w siren thinking my old one was kaput . I am worried about leaving it uninstalled in case there is an issue with it .
There must be many users like myself who are completely happy and never had any issues until now and have not checked these pages out previously which is a shame
I have never used Dropbox
home kit or Alexa or echo
( I understand the floodlight with siren cannot be used with HomeKit unless there has been an update from 3 yrs ago )
I purchased Eufy for my relative which is a wireless floodlight easy to install with clear video recording but looks a bit plasticky and not as robust as Netatmo - it is useful as a back up as it is solar powered and rechargeable via usb .
It has no subscription , but a bit pricey unless you can get it on special offer.
