Hello Peter,
I have the same problem with one old and one never unused outdoor sensor from Netatmo to integrate them again to my system.
Through the last month I have read the same problem here from other users. Phantastic help of Netatmo was wished, but mainly nothing happened from their service.
In the past I recommend many friends Netatmo weather station. Now I will stop this and never give anymore recommendation for this product.
Sorry to say this, but it is not a good way that a company sell their products worldwide and do only offer a very poor service to their customers.

Hi again, I discovered that the bottom of the battery holder were filled with rust, so I just removed it, placed the same batteries agin and it works flawless again.

I have had the exact same problem. My 3rd outdoor module has now stopped working due to corrosion on the battery plates. Im debating with myself bying a 4th outdoor module on Black Friday, but I think its becoming too expensive replacing modules instead of batteries. Netatmo really needs to fix this corrosion issue. I love the product, but its sadly flawed.

I had the same issue after 4 years and managed to fix it.
The problem is that the sensor on the circuit board gets covered in greenish slime causing it to fail.
Take the outdoor module completely apart - you’ll need a torx T9 (IIRC) to undo the cylinder from the base (2 Torx screws located next to the batteries). Once removed, take the cylinder off and you’ll see the circuit board with rubber seal around it. The sensor is located on the corner enclosed by the rubber seal. Remove the rubber seal and clean the sensor (and any other parts that appear dirty) with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud. Make sure it’s clean!
Leave to dry, then reassemble in reverse order - don’t forget the seal and make sure it’s in the correct position.
Test and put it back up.
It’s been very stable since.
