Why is the Video Doorbell no longer available for purchase?

  Well long story short, it was discontinued because it doesn’t have the features most people want these days. They all want a Doorbell that runs with Homekit Video and nothing else.

  Netatmo simply fell victim here to bad timing.
  They developed this Doorbell, set up production and the supply chains and right before it’s launch if I remember correctly, Apple introduced Homekit Secure Video.
  And the technical requirements for this where just to much for this product. Us Beta testers went through a bunch of software improvements like preroll, that wasn’t a thing at first. They really squeezed out everything they could from that hardware to provide all the new features customers wanted but ran into multiple problems with that like overheating and breaking sd-cards.
  And eventually they had to accepted their defeat, a statement was published on why Homekit Secure Video was not coming to the Doorbell and I guess due to declining sales and increasing complaints about „those missing key features“, the product was never designed for, it was scrapped.

  Sad story in my opinion, I really like this product. It was/is the only one that I know of that can be hooked up to an existing 2-wire chime setup. And with an additional cheap relay, I was able to connect it to the intercom setup in my apartment building.

  also it just turned out to be a bad product. It is a good product on paper but the execution is poor.
  
  I am living with this doorbell until I can afford to move to a better one. 
  
  Constantly plagued by appalling response times, disconnects etc despite having great wifi around the house from access points. 
  
  I will be at work on a 4g signal getting >100mbps, I have a 70mbps fibre upload connection at home and when I get someone ring my doorbell, the netatmo app opens and either circles of death or an error code.
  
  It is worthless other than a dumb doorbell imho.
