Batteries exhaustes in few days

The batteries drain very quickly. I installed the thermostat at the end of November and on December 20th I already received a message that the batteries were low. I replaced them and on January 3rd I received another message to replace them in a month. After a few hours I received another notification that they were low.

Hello. I have been using the thermostat for 4 years without any problems. For the last 2 months, the batteries have been draining rapidly in less than 4 days. I have tried everything... various types of batteries, factory reset, moving the relay closer... nothing is working for me. I am desperate... I don't know what else to do.

I have the same problem after having replaced the batteries for the first time. And the screen is also rotated, now.

It seems a common problem: after a battery replacement the accelerometer stops working and batteries start draining quickly. Does Netatmo have a fix for this mess?

@sabino.maggi I confirm that exactly the same thing is happening to me. The screen has also remained rotated and the battery consumption is exaggerated and is not assumable.

I have the same issue. The batteries needs replace after few days. I have 3 thermostats link to it and until January all was fine. I have it for years without issues like this. Last battery replace was required after one night. The firmware is the last available

It seems a firmware problem, my thermosat is at release 79. If this is the case, I hope Netatmo fixes the issue as soon as possible.

Yes, it seems like that. I had the thermostat for a month without any problems. And I was very happy with it. One day I received a message from Netatmo, informing me of a change in the firmware that was supposed to protect the screen. After a few days, I don't know if it was by chance, the digits appeared upside down and the screen didn't rotate. Then, three battery changes in about a fortnight.

Same problem. I also got a message indicating that the firmware had been updated to improve something... My relay has firmware version 249 and the thermostat has version 79.
Does anyone know how to reinstall an older version? I tried to factory reset the relay by pressing the button for 20 seconds, but there was no change regarding battery consumption. It must be a problem with the thermostat only, who knows if it is possible to factory reset it as well? Or are we obliged to wait for Netatmo to release an update? It is desperate especially when the batteries run out in the middle of the night, because from the time the device detects that the batteries are running low and sends the alert email until they run out, only an hour passes and I have woken up several days with the house freezing :-(

I think that is an issue between thermostat and radiator valve because I have 2 thermostats but one has no valve attached to it and that is not having the issue. Too bad that I bought end of last year 2 new valve to replace 2 old ones which were working but without display. I had to change lot of batteries until now. if they will don't fix this it will be cheaper to choose another ecosystem then to replace batteries almost daily. I have again notification to replace batteries. I see lot of complains but no official reply, I think that we are alone here, company is too busy to count the money, then to help... the only solution could be what somebody said, to find a way to rollback ourselves the firmware with issues or to put to garbage all netatmo devices...

I have no valves, just the thermostat, which is about a year old. On the other hand, in my previous house where my daughter now lives, I have an older thermostat (bought more or less in 2018-2019) that seems to work normally, at least for now. So maybe only newer revisions are affected by this issue.

A few days ago I opened a ticket with Netatmo (https://helpcenter.netatmo.com/), an automated reply asked me for the invoice of the product and since then no vital signs from them.

I too have only had a single thermostat without a valve for 4 years.

While waiting for the firmware update I have come up with a solution to avoid buying batteries every now and then and running out of batteries at the most inopportune moments. I bought these fake batteries on Amazon (Spain). You can see an ugly cable on the wall but I hope it's only temporary. I leave you the link in case you can use it as an idea to look for similar ones. For about 20€
Note:  I have it at 3V.  It has been working without problem for 4 days. I disclaim any liability whatsoever.
The device should be set to 4.5V for AAA.

Excellent idea indeed! However, I don't understand why you set it to 3V, since the thermostat uses three AAA batteries, i.e. 4.5V.

You are right. The correct voltage is 4.5V
I'm not sure where I got the wrong figure of 1.3V per battery (which is 3.9V) and I didn't want to overdo it to avoid messing it up. Thank you very much for the clarification, I will change it to 4.5V (even so I confirm that with 3V it is working).

Probably 3V are enough for the controller/display and for exciting the solid state relay. Mine was just a curiosity, if it works keep it at 3V, a lower voltage cannot harm the device. If I decide to buy the fake batteries I'll do the same.

The fake batteries are a very good idea. I guess setting it to 4.5v is the right thing to do. I have thought about it, but my product is still under warranty and it is better to return it. I hope Netatmo will solve this problem soon, because it is a good device.
