configuring new thermostat to phone - to anything - or getting it to stay configured once installed
The Netatmo Smart thermostat that I had installed by a Netatmo engineer in 2019 broke down, new batteries did not work. So I bought a new thermostat, which arrived with a new Relay box.
My friend and I have spent two days trying everything to get the app on the phone to 'talk to' the new thermostat, without success. Frustratingly, having changed the Netatmo password on my account, having uninstalled and reinstalled the Netatmo app on my phone, and - worst of all - having read the words 'Congratulations You have successfully configured ...' it has now gone back to *sorry your Relay cannot be reached at this time.* It asks me then to set up Wifi or change password etc
I have put in the new wifi password several times, I have installed and reinstalled the app, I can see that the new Netatmo thermostat is working because I can read the room temperature numbers. But I cannot get the app on the phone to communicate with the thermostat, and the temperature outside was literally in minus degrees last night in Dublin.
The only response I get is an email with a 'ticket number' telling me that someone will respond, but so far no one has done what is needed ......... tell me exactly how to get the new thermostat to work AFTER it is has been configured ... because I don't know where to go when my phone says Congratulations your product has been successfully configured then Sorry the relay cannot be reached
Thoughts??

Did you use the new thermostat in combination with the new relay? It is not for nothing that they come in pairs, they are linked. A new thermostat will not connect with an old relay.
Thank you for this, for your reply, which is more than I've got from the Help people of Netatmo/
yes, absolutely, though I don't think that what you said above is clearer than anything I saw on my phone or on any instructions of Netatmo. 'Procedural writing' - we teach it in school: how to write clear and unambiguous instructions that can be followed step by step.
I can't get my phone or the phone app - and yes I did uninstall and reinstall and start again - won't connect to/ talk to the Relay, though the actual 'Smart' Thermostat now does, the heating came on this morning at 7am as it's supposed to do, or as it used to do when I had the original Smart Thermostat. But I can't easily regulate temperature anymore, and I'm almost afraid to touch the Smart (sic) Thermostat now in case it refuses to 'talk to' the Relay again. The weather is too cold for such risky behaviour.
Also, isn't it a wonder that the Customer Service /Help people aren't giving me as much help as you offered above?
sorry --- I mean I *do* think that what you said is clearer. Procedural writing is needed by more than Netatmo people!
Thanks for your reply and compliment.
I also found that it took a while for my phone app to connect to the relay. But in a way it eventually (automagically, just like magic) did. There seems to be a delay in connecting the relay to the Netatmo account, I don't know why.
Another app that you can use is the LeGrand Control app. And don't worry, if the thermostat and the relay are relatively close together, there is hardly a chance that they will lose connection. The temperature settings are linked to your account with Netatmo. So the new relay thermostat combo will automatically take on the schedule you have set. And I found that it is easier to alter the schedule in the web app than in the phone app. Temporarily changing the temperature can be done easily on both the Netatmo or the LeGrand phone app.
And I do think that is excruciating to see, or experience, that customer service does not answer any questions or give any help to customers.
Absolutely right !!!!!
I am getting really frustrated trying to find a fix for my malfunctioning….👎👎
