Unable to re-pair Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves after removal

giuseppe.chiedi

Dear Netatmo Support Team,

I am contacting you regarding a persistent issue with re-pairing Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves that were previously installed and working correctly.

System overview

  • 1 × Netatmo Relay

  • 5 × Smart Radiator Valves in total

  • 3 valves removed from the system (both physically from the radiators and from the app) due to calibration issues

  • 2 valves + thermostat still installed and working normally

  • Stable Wi-Fi network: 2.4 GHz, channel 6 (same network used during the original installation)

Tests performed using:

  • Samsung A33 5G (Android) with Netatmo Control app

  • iPhone 7 (iOS), originally used for the first installation years ago

Issue description

After removing the 3 valves from the app, I am no longer able to add them back to the system.

Steps followed:

  • Start the “Add a new valve” procedure from the app

  • Place the valve very close to the relay

  • Insert the batteries immediately after starting the pairing process

Observed behavior:

  • The valve displays a number with the pairing/association icon, indicating pairing mode

  • However, the app never detects or adds the valve, even after waiting several minutes

Additional symptoms:

  • When the pairing process is cancelled or times out, the remaining working valves and the thermostat become “not reachable” for about 5–10 minutes, then recover automatically

  • The issue occurs identically on multiple smartphones and operating systems

  • The relay remains powered and the Wi-Fi connection is stable throughout the process

Troubleshooting already performed

  • Pairing one valve at a time

  • Starting with the valve without batteries, inserting them only after starting discovery

  • Using only the Netatmo Control app (Energy app not used)

  • Keeping the valve very close to the relay

  • Waiting extended time after the valve number appears

Technical considerations

Based on the behavior observed:

  • The valve appears to correctly enter pairing mode

  • The relay seems to detect it temporarily

  • The pairing process does not complete or is not propagated to the app/account

  • The relay communication appears temporarily disrupted during pairing attempts

I have found reports from other users experiencing the same issue after removing and re-adding valves, in some cases resolved only by device replacement.

Request

I would appreciate your support to clarify:

  1. Whether there is an undocumented full / deep factory reset procedure for the valves

  2. Whether this is a known issue related to firmware or residual pairing state on the cloud/account side

  3. If an account-side reset or cleanup can be performed

  4. If the valves are likely defective at pairing/radio level, how to proceed considering they are out of warranty

I am available to provide:

  • Serial numbers of the affected valves

  • Screenshots from the app

  • Additional technical tests if required

Thank you for your support. I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,
Giuseppe Chiedi
