What is Smart Privacy and how does it work?

Smart Privacy is a feature that is meant to preserve your privacy. If enabled, your Indoor Camera Advance will only record when you are not at home.

How does it work?

The camera will determine home presence using facial recognition and geofencing (more information on geofencing available here). When you get home & pass in front of the camera, the camera will recognize your face and close its shutter. If you decide to leave your home, the camera will be able to know using geofencing and the localisation of your phone, and will re-open the shutter.

If you do not wish to enable localisation on your phone, the shutter of the camera will open after 3 hours. If you wish to change this timer, you can do so by following these steps:

  1. Open your Home + Security app
  2. Go to Settings > Alert and recording settings > Edit profiles
  3. Adjust the timer at the top of the page

How can I enable & configure Smart Privacy?

Smart Privacy is enabled by configuring the Smart Privacy profiles in your home, i.e. configuring the profiles that will trigger the opening & closing of the shutter of your camera based on home presence. Please check What is a Smart Privacy Profile and how can I configure it? for more information.

What happens when several home members are at home?

If several home members that are Smart Privacy profiles are at home, Smart Privacy will be triggered based on the first arrival & last departure. If there is still a Smart Privacy profile at home, the shutter of the camera will remain closed even if another just left home.
