Rain gauge doesn't show correct data!

pcvandijk

My first rain gauge worked fine until it died after some years. My second one showed rain when it was sunny and vice versa. A calibration (the default answer from the help-desk) didn't help at all. Now I have my third rain gauge and it's having the same issue. Last week we had a clear blue sky and it showed in the afternoon: 38.9, 38.9 and 77.8 (=2 * 38,9 co-incidence??)  mm of rain. And this happens all the time.
Something is completely wrong with the rain gauges from Netatmo. Currently mailing with the help-desk again, hope they can fix it, but hardly any response.

Curious if there are more users having the same issue. If so, please vote.

    Hello,

Please, follow these steps to calibrate your Smart Rain Gauge:

    1. Install your Smart Rain Gauge if you have not already done so. (How to add a module to my Smart Home Weather Station?)
    2. Slowly pour 100 ml of water into the Smart Rain Gauge and count the number of times you hear the buckets tilt. (Tip: 100 ml = 100 grams if you have kitchen scales)
    3. Divide the volume poured (100 ml) by the number of knocks on the buckets and correct the value in the Netatmo Weather app:
      1. Go to Settings > Manage my Home
      2. Select the room where the Rain Gauge is located
      3. Click on the module
      4. In Configurations select Rain
      5. Enter the value in the corresponding field

yesteday, in my area, there was a really strong storm. My rain sensor totalized 71 mm in the whole day. Another netatmo weather station is located few km from my house, with a total of 83 mm. So, the two values are very similar. in the day there were many floods with high emergency. also national media and  newspaper talked about this emergency. What it is strange is that official media are talking abour 210 mm of water in the day. with a peek of 22 mm in 15 minutes after 4 pm. my sensor registerd between 4 pm and 5 pm in an hour 17 mm. My question is: it is possible that in case of very heavvy rain this sensor is not able to record all water felt down? how it is possible a difference so big between Netatmo result 70/80 mm and official measurement 210/220 mm? this measn three times less. It is possible? we are talking about a very retricted are, and two sensor, weell distributed in the area are recordin comparable amount of rain.

It works awful for me as well. Some days it shows correctly, other rainy days it shows 0mm, battery is full and signal 3/4. Paying so much I expected at least medium quality device, this is a useless garbage...
