    I had the same issue, mine was sideways.
    I was given these instructions:

    • remove the batteries
    • place the Thermostat in order it's facing the ceiling (screen on top) and insert the batteries
    • just after having inserted the last battery, press alternatively and quickly the + and - buttons until the Thermostat displays its serial number
    • then remove the batteries, wait for 10 seconds and put them back

    I couldn‘t get to the serial number, so the accelerometer was defective. This doesn‘t impact anything else except the aesthetics.

    If your Thermostats are not sideways but upside-down and you can‘t reset them as well, you could turn around the mounting plate.

    @GEORGzer

    You are right. So the next step is to change the mounting plate

    I'm having the same issue. After replacing batteries the screen rotation didn't work anymore and the new batteries are draining.

    'fun fact': it was already repaired in 2024 after a blurry screen problem that was causing a battery drain problem. Since then it was working perfectly again with the same set of batteries until I had to replace them and the new problem emerged.

    Netatmo support told me it's now irrepairable and is offering me a 25 percent discount on a new thermostate (while it's currently even cheaper at third party vendors).

    But having the risk it's irrepairable again within a couple of months or years? No thanks. Obviously not going to buy a new one. But really disappointed in the lack of product quality and no decent customer support.
