Disable doorbell to ring on my iPhone

b.gulikers

There is already a post with the same subject but I find the answer very disappointing and the post is already closed for replies. Therefor a new post.
Since today I receive a phonecall from my doorbell every 30 minutes. My wife is a pedicure and receives a new customer every 30 minutes.
I don't accept the answer that this can't be switched off. My phone rings even though I switched off the sound!! This is unacceptable.

Add this to the fact that the doorbell disconnects every now and then and this makes me switch to an alternative. Although I like the design and idea of the Netatmo very much.

    Hi everyone,

We understand your desire not to receive incoming calls related to your connected doorbell. However, this functionality is a key part of the user experience we aim to provide and cannot be disabled.

If you wish to reject an incoming call, simply follow the standard procedure for rejecting a call on iOS:

When the call appears on your screen, swipe upwards from the bottom to ignore it.
The call will be dismissed, and you can continue using your device as usual.

This way of displaying doorbell calls allows for differentiating the level of priority between a standard motion detection, for example, and the presence of a person on-site trying to contact you.

This change was made following strong user demand but also to align with industry standards, as competing products now all use Apple's CallKit technology.

    Thank you for your understanding.

I don’t like this feature at all(kindly said)
    Please remove it straight away
Or make it an option in settings

It’s so so bad. We seem to have gone from getting a storm of pings to a phonecall that can’t be silenced. I just want one short and simple ping, is that really too much to ask!?

The doorbell is now work as originally advertised.
The description was receive a video call straight to your phone.
In the original forum there were a number of complaints that the notifications were not what was promised.
Now they have managed to get the calls working but this has made issues of its own.

Why we cant disable it? I have Doorbell in Home app and I want to use it there, I dont want to receive annoying phone calls each time someone rings the bell? I have all notifications from Security app disabled. Why there is no option to disable that ringing it in the app? If I uninstall the app will it stop happening and will Doorbell work in Home app without Security app?

    Hey everyone…
it should be possible for Netatmo to simply add a on/off switch for CallKit in settings! Others can!
I use only HomeKit, because the connection of the Netatmo App is sooooo sloooow and most of the time, the microphone is not working or stops working a few seconds after starting the stream ;-(  It does not make any sense, that the ringing person does not hear me…and with CallKit enabled, the only way to use HomeKit is to uninstall Netatmos app.
It is so crazy, that Netatmo NOW integrated CallKit after so many years, but does not look at HomeKit users who ABSOLUTELY NEED A ON/OFF SWITCH!

I don‘t understand why they are not asking their users for UI changes, before they did such chaotic changes…

Please allow us to disable it. In our case we mostly use HomeKit for doorbell and the Security app for the video cloud storage. When someone rings the doorbell the multiple call rings in the house are driving us mad.

This CallKit function is very irritating. I'm wondering that the official statement from Netatmo is that kind of arrogant to stop the communication for this understanding change request.

very poor dissission to handle it this way

Also from my side to the software devops team - please make the ring/call function switchable on the iPhone. It is mega disturbing!

This is a really bad way to get a notification from a doorbell. It should not be treated as a phone call.
Now it's impossible to see who is at the door before answering the call. And when you answer to see who is at the door, it is automatically unmuted. Really hope they make this optional, or else I'm going to look to replace this doorbell.

You should really make this an option for the user to decide. You should not force a very powerful feature on user who got other ways to access the stream.
I‘ll hope this feature is fixed, or you‘ll see me move on to other companies products that grant me more options to chose from.

I cant believe this, there really is no on/off switch for this??? i dont want to use the netatmo security app! its so bloody annoying to receive phone calls from the doorbell! I will uninstall the app then, wich is not great because then i cant watch any footage because of the lag of HKSV, really dumb decision netatmo! Please create a on/off switch!

Hey guys, anyone there from Netatmo who could comment on this?

The problem has been going on for months now. There are multiple complaints from users who have bought your product for a lot of money and you just don't say anything!

Will the problem be fixed? Do you have it in your backlog? Or do you just say that you're not going to fix it? That's also fine. Then we know what's going on and look for a doorbell from a competitor who takes better care of their customers' needs ;-)

Kind regards from an otherwise really satisfied customer

No one in this thread would like to remove this functionality entirely from the app, but make it optional.

Good to see, you don't care about customer feedback!

@ the other frustrated users: are there any other devices you looked at for a change? I'll try to move as quickly as possible away from Netamo and would appreciate any ideas.

You can simply remove that unwanted feature by logging out of the app Security, Doorbell will work in Homekit as expected without making any disturbing calls... When you want to watch recordings, you will simply log in.

I don’t want any notifications or calls from the Security app. I can use HomeKit
Logging out seems the only option until another solution / doorbell is available.

But in case of log out or uninstalling the Netatmo app, recordings triggered by motion detection only, will not longer work - doorbell will only start recordings, if sb rings the doorbell. So if you like to use the doorbell cam as well for motion detection, logging out is no way!
Others like AVM with their Fritz!Fon App offers a switch to disable ringing when a call comes in - so if you take care to your customers wishes…pls reconsider your decision!

When you have doorbell in Homekit, motion notifications still works when logged oud from Security app - they are sent from Home app. So I still receive notification when some motion is detected or someone rings the bell and I also have picture in notification of that event. So basically I need Security app for recordings.

that is correct, but it is only that single picture you get…no video recording of that event - good for you, if this is not your usecase.
Netatmo should look for those customers as well…those who would like to use the build-in camera as part of their surveillance system and not only as a simple camera doorbell…

not able to find any users who requested such a ‚feature‘ - who is requesting that???
May you should take a look on the world around you! Make it customizable for us and everything will be good!
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Netatmo/comments/1gl547z/doorbell_video_call/

Just give us an example which other doorbell is using that and is not offering an option for disabling calls? But the Netatmo staff is only able to copy and paste the same user ignoring answers - the one we received today is exactly the same as in reddit months ago.

Netatmo…we still remember your user unfriedly behaviour with HomeKit Secure Video…uppity is still your passion 😡

    Dear Giada,

as you can see there are plenty of people who like only the function to disable the feature NOT removing the feature. This still should be availalbe for all of the customer, who like to use it asked for it.

Nevertheless, for me it looks like (personal impression) that the software development team was disconnected from this product because of EOA.

If this is the case, than it would be nice simply to say "the product is EOA and no further software changes are planned" Than everyone can decide what to do.

Netatmo implemented CallKit a long time after their doorbell goes EOL…
