Hello, I am currently installing my. First smart thermostat, wired and replacing an old room thermostat! The old wiring had 3 cables' N, 1,2!
I have insulated N and connected 1.2 to the new Netatmo thermostat.
Unfortunately, my gas heating (detached house) does not react to the values entered. I have already swapped the cables, but it doesn't work either. I can already control the smart thermostat via the app. What is wrong here?

You can test your wiring by connecting 1 & 2 together without a Thermostat. If your boiler starts, then the Thermostat could be faulty. If not then the wiring is not correct. Although a 3 wire-setup should normally work like that.

Are you sure 1 & 2 are meant to be used like this? Maybe you have to change the connection also on the boiler side, better check the instructions before blowing up the house by connecting arbitrary wires :-)

Normally a 3-wire setup contains N, L and one return.
L/N is needed to power the old thermostat and when heat is requested, L is send back through the return wire.
It should be like that unless it‘s a BUS system.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, better to check heating system instructions. For example I've changed an existing thermostat with a 3 wire setup with numbers 1,2,4 with a on/off thermostat and checking the instruction the on/off thermostat should be connected to the TA terminals (removing the jumper) leaving the 3 wire connection not connected so I've moved two of the 3 cables to the new connection and it works.

well done 👍
Without the boiler model of the OP, it’s hard to tell.
