Plastic film on anemometer has come loose
A plastic film on top of the lower part of my anemometer has started to come loose and buckle. Does this affect the measurements? (I do have a suspicion that the wind speeds reported recently are too low.) If it does, how can I fix it? Glue it down? Remove it?

Hi,
The issue with the plastic folder should not affect the measurements. Our support team needs to make a deeper analysis of your data, which is not possible in the forum 😉
Please submit a request via our Help Center and our team will help you by email.
Have a nice day !
I have a very similar issue with the plastic film, but in the upper inner part of the module. The wind direction seems to be always the same (SW or SSW). The speed does vary though. Should I also submit a request?
Hi Jeff,
If the measures seem correct to you, there is no need, but we are always ready to support you, so please reach out whenever you like 😊
I had the same problem with the plastic layer parting from the bottom.
Netatmo support explained that they missed to remove it during the manufacturing process. Yeah, sure? 🤣
They asked me to remove it using a cotton top!
It was thick and mostly glued to the surface, I had to use pliers and a knife to get it off.
Hi LarsOska,
We recommend using a Q-tip to clean any dirt under the sensors, but not for removing the plastic covering.
Typically, the plastic covering is removed during the factory assembly process. While it is possible for this step to be overlooked, you can safely remove the plastic without compromising the module's accuracy, as confirmed by our support team.
I have the same issue with the film covering the upper inner part of the module, presumably the sensors. I keep getting very high readings of gusts of up to 50 km/h even on still days and often several times an hour. Completely distorts my data. Can I just completely remove the film? It has degraded so much that it is probably providing little protection anyway. If protection is required what could I replace it with? Thanks
Hi Giada,
One of my friends, that I recommended Netatmo to, just discovered the same problem.
The plastic cover of the bottom surface is partly coming off.
What is the best method to remove the plastic layer, that should have been removed at the assembly process?

Hi Giada,
Recently I have started getting odd high incorrect readings for wind speed, my highest so far is 131kph. On checking I also noticed that the covering film for the sensors was tearing away. I have raised a report with the helpdesk but have not heard back yet.
Hi.
The health and sunshine has broken down the film under the sensores of my anamometer.
Is it possible to get new rubber protection for the sensors?
If’s not the product it useless because of wrong measurement.
I've also experienced this. Didn't manage to get all of the plastic film off, but measurements seem more correct now.
