Smart Indoor camera as a baby monitor? Répondu

stewart.lawrence

Has anyone tried using the Smart Indoor Camera as a baby monitor? I can get one cheaply and use an old iPad or iPhone as a dedicated display.

What I’d like to know is:

  • Is the camera able to stream live video for 10 hours continuously?
  • Are either the Netatmo Home + Security app or Apple Home app suitable to view the stream for the same 10 hour period?

I know how to set an iPhone to not allow the display to sleep and activate Guided Access so only one app runs at once. Mainly I just want to know if the camera and app can handle the task 99% of the time.

    Hi,

The Smart Indoor Camera is not designed to recognize baby cries. It has been specifically designed for facial and motion recognition, and as such, it is not suitable for use as a baby monitor.

    Have a nice day 🙂

    Thanks for the reply.
I’m not interested in detecting baby cries, motion, and faces. My current monitor simply streams audio and video from another room. My wife leaves it on all night so she can look and listen to it. However it’s starting to break down and malfunction.
I ended up buying the second hand Netatmo Smart Indoor Camera and it doesn’t actually power on. So I guess I won’t be able to test my use case. I’ll just have to return it and reevaluate my options.
