Vanne is not connecting
I already have the smart thermostat installed. I am now trying to install a Netatmo vanne. On the screen, I have the vertical bar+the wifi signal indicating that the vanne is searching for the relay. But it doesn't connect and after a while, the screen just display the temperature + !, while my smart thermostat is still connected to the relay and is working fine.
What is the issue?

If you followed the app instructions for setting up the Valves, the „vertical bar“ with the blinking wifi sign is actually the number „1“, indicating that this is the first Valve you set up. It will be number „2“, „3“ and so on if you keep adding Valves.
When the screen changes to the temperature with the !, the ! likely means that the Valve still has to be calibrated after you installed it on the radiator.
Hello and thanks for your reply. So after I install the valve to the radiator, it will calibrate automatically or do I have to do anything special? I thought that the ! after the temperature meant that the valve was not connected to the relay.
Another thing to add is that on the app when I try to install the valve, I cannot complete the process, that is why I was thinking that it was connecting to the relay, no?
The ! can mean connection problems as well, yes.
But the need to calibrate the Valve after setting it up was always the case.
However if you can‘t complete the setup then your issue is something else.
Can you give a more detailed explanation what happens or upload a screenshot?
Ok, I will do that on Friday. Cheers
👍
Hello, I have another question. Should I remove and delete the smart thermostat before I start to install the vanes, or should I leave it there as it is ? As I cannot see the role that that smart thermostat will play after the vanes are installed. What would you recommend? Cheers
I‘m assuming you had a Smart Thermostat and now you bought additional Valves and not a Valve Starter Pack that comes with it‘s own Relais.
Since you need the Relais of your Thermostat and the Thermostat is bound to it, you cannot delete it.
After installing the Valves, place the Thermostat in the biggest room (in the App and in reality), it will function as a control-panel for that room and as an additional temperature sensor which should improve accuracy.
But since you already had a Thermostat, I assume it or the Relais was wired to your boiler?
Yes, that is correct, the current Smart Thermostat is linked to the relais that is connected to the boiler. OK, will do that. Cheers
You’re welcome 🤗
Once you have everything set up, I‘d recommend this support article that describes the different modes available.
https://helpcenter.netatmo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021261971-The-radiators-in-one-of-my-rooms-are-not-giving-off-enough-heat-even-though-the-room-is-not-at-the-desired-temperature-What-should-I-do
Ok.
I still have so many questions. One is how the vanes connect to the relais? Via Bluetooth? As I plan to install one on a radiator that is one floor below where the boiler and the relais are. If they connect via wifi, that would work as there is the same wifi network the floor below.
They connect with their own low power radio protocol like the Thermostat does.
That’s the primary function of the Relais actually, being a bridge between that and the wifi.
Hello, I managed to install all my valves. However, I notice that one of them misses the black pushing cap inside. Is there a way I can order it?
Glad it worked out for you.
Have you checked the packaging? Maybe it‘s still in there. If not, you should contact the seller and ask for a replacement Valve.
Otherwise for official spare parts, you have to contact Netatmo Support directly through the Helpcenter. But I can’t tell you if they have that specific part on hand.
Ok, I will contact the help center. Cheers
