problem with the Home+security application

adam.kulaty

After the latest update of the Home+security app for Apple, there is a problem with installing the new Netatmo outdoor camera Presence. The camera can be added to HomeKit, but it cannot be installed in the app version 26.3.1. dated 26.3.2026. The app finds the camera, you enter the wifi and as it starts to set up, the app gets stuck on the camera settings. I'm not the only one with this problem. The camera can be set up in the Android app without any problems. Please Netatmo. You have a problem either on the servers or in the app. The camera in Homekit works without any problems.

I'm having the same issue with the Security app, version 26.3.1, on iOS.

Settings --> Install New Product --> Netatmo Outdoor Camera --> The app finds the camera already connected via HomeKit --> Select “Home” --> The connection is established --> Then the loading circle spins forever during camera setup.

I’ve already reset the camera several times and restarted the router/Wi-Fi, but it always ends up as described above.
Cameras that are already installed work without any issues.

Write to support and have them fix it. It's clear that Netatmo is no longer interested in the problems posted here. Link here for Netatmo outdoor cameras.

The same problem is also solved here:

Only solution is to ask somebody with an Android phone to visit and to use their device during setup. In the end I asked my neighbors after trying with more than 4 different iPhones.

Netatmo could at least inform their customers who use an iPhone and who are trying to setup a new product that it cannot work! Instead of doing nothing and blaming Apple. It’s temporary acceptable to use an Android phone for setup. It’s completely not acceptable that I and others are loosing many hours trying to do something that cannot be done on an iPhone. And buying new products to try to make it work. I bought a new MicroSD-card and even a new WiFi router for nothing. Before Google AI found this forum topic.

    Their statement:

I fully understand the inconvenience this has caused, and we apologise for it. Indeed, the installation process on iOS is different from that on Android and is more restrictive due to the operating system.
We are aware of this, and our developers are constantly working to improve it within the constraints imposed by Apple.

Today, I had this pretty annoying issue during the first installation of a brand-new Netatmo Presence v1.

Setup was done with an iPhone 15, iOS 26.3.1, and Netatmo Security App 26.3.1. The camera was detected, Apple Home / HomeKit was already working, and I even had live video there. But in the Netatmo Security App, the setup always got stuck at “Installing the accessories…” and never finished.

I tried all the usual things: reinstalled the app, restarted the iPhone, restarted the router, power-cycled / restarted the camera and repeated the setup several times. Nothing helped.

The camera was brand new, so this was a real first-time installation, not a previously used device.

What finally solved it for me as well: I installed the Netatmo Security App on an Android phone, logged in with the same Netatmo account, and completed the setup there. After that, the problem was gone immediately, and the camera also appeared normally in the app on my iPhone.

It was apparently not a camera defect, but an iOS setup problem.

I had the same problem and was searching for a solution for weeks... Installed it on an Android phone, logged in and tried afterwards on my iPhone: worked again!!

This is so good to hear ! 🎉 hurrah!

Can I ask what happens to the app on the android phone afterwards - did you delete it and did that affect the floodlight? ( did you have to install it on apple HomeKit as well before deleting it off the android phone ? )
What a rubbish way to install it ....never used to be like that but hopefully this observation will spur the Netatmo team to sort a fix 🙏

I installed the camera on an Android phone but with my Netatmo login. After the Android installation, which took only a couple of minutes, I opened my iPhone and everything worked. I didn't add it to Apple Homekit.

Then I deleted the Netatmo app on the Android phone of our neighbors.

Yes, exactly the same here. I installed the Security app on a borrowed Android phone, completed the setup there, and the camera then appeared automatically on my iPhone as well because I was logged into the same Netatmo account. After that, the app could of course be deleted again from the borrowed Android phone without affecting the camera or the floodlight. You can also remove the Wi-Fi access for your own home network that had been set up on that Android phone for the installation. I also did not need to add it to Apple HomeKit first.

By the way, my support request to Netatmo, which I sent at least a week ago, has still not been answered, so it seems nobody is dealing with it, or at least not in a timely way. Maybe they will still come back to me.

The helpdesk knows and hopefully somebody in the company will do something about it. The feedback that I got from my contact at Netatmo:

I fully understand your frustration, and I sincerely apologise for the time lost and the additional costs caused by this iOS installation issue. You are absolutely right: customers should be clearly informed when there is a known limitation during setup. I will make sure your feedback is passed on to our product and communication teams.

Our developers are actively working on improving the installation experience on iPhone. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

    Same Problem here.

Try since several weeks to install a camera, always without success. Good (or bad) to see that others do have the same problems and it is not our fault.

This iPhone installation issue, together with Netatmo’s limited responsiveness, makes me question the future of this camera.
The product has clear strengths: good design, a useful event stream, and an app that is easy to use once everything works. But there are also recurring weaknesses: unstable Wi-Fi, noticeable latency between events and notifications, and support that is not really convincing.
My impression is that this product line is no longer being actively developed in a meaningful way. A modern update with 5 GHz Wi-Fi, better resolution, and improved responsiveness would be very welcome.

Without proper support for the current model, I will probably have to move away from Netatmo sooner or later. It would be helpful to know whether Netatmo still plans any meaningful improvements for this camera and whether reliable support for the current product can still be expected.

I was about to buy one more Netatmo Camera for my backyard, but now, having this issues over such a long time period, and no fix in sight - I am thinking about switching with the hole installation to RING. It worked reliable for me in my tests. So „good bye Netatmo“??

They call the new camera "ORIGINAL" and it includes Dual-band Wi-Fi 2,4/5 GHz. You can find it on website since a couple of weeks (www.netatmo.com). I would have preferred to also be able to use Ethernet-connection.
