Outdoor Module drains batteries

halodd99

I changed the batteries a week ago and they are almost out of power already. What could be wrong?

In mine module there was faulty ceramic capacitor, i meausred 330ohm on 1,2V line, started desoldering dark looking capacitor, and happily I found it on first try.

After capacitor replacament it works just fine, and drives less ten 1mA. I think the capacitor could be faulty from the beginning or there was overvoltage during thunderstorm and then it was destroyed. It was around 10uF 0603 capacitor close to radio IC.
Of course it was bad-designed, there was no TVS diodes anywhere, i wonder how Netatmo put it through ESD tests.

Battery drains within 2 weeks and indeed it updates every second... No fix known this moment?

Same problem here. Will it be a firmware-fix or is the problem hw related?

To Aldo, tor and kubac2121 above,
No one can say if this is fixable with SW or if it's a common HW problem. Maybe kubac2121 above here found an HW problem, but they never confirmed the symptoms of the error they corrected.
It could still be older HW that reacted badly to a new FW. Some of the descriptions here could indicate that, but we will never know without someone from Netatmo confirming or taking responsibility in some way.

This issue/problem has been going on for a while and is widespread.
I think it's unprofessional of Netatmo that not any of their professionals are commenting here on their official forum anything!?
Well, it gives more of a reason to look at other manufacturers when going for the next purchases.

I have the same problem here in Canada. Also firmware 53. There is no way I'm going to buy another outdoor module if Netatmo doesn't fix this bug. I will look for another supplier. Very sad that Netatmo won't stand behind their products!!!

It is crazy and no support at all or any advice from Netatmo - so disappointing. I’ll be warning my colleagues and friends to stay far away from this weather monitor which is a pity as other than this it works quite well and has a nice app.
