Improve your Smart Outdoor Camera's detection

Improve your camera's detection performance

If you would like to contribute to improving the detection performance of Netatmo cameras, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Home + Security app.
  2. Go to Settings > My account.
  3. Go to Improvements programs > Improve camera detection.
  4. Review the program details at the top of the page.
  5. Select the cameras in your homes for which you agree to share data (still images captured by your cameras).

Note: If you have multiple cameras across your Netatmo homes, you can choose to share data for only one camera or for some or all of them.

How do I adjust the detection sensitivity of my Smart Outdoor Camera?

Detection sensitivity allows you to adjust how your camera behaves for each event category: people, vehicles, and animals. Depending on your environment, you can make detection more or less responsive to suit your needs.

For the best results, we recommend using this feature after submitting several corrections through "Improve detection" from your activity feed. This helps the camera better understand your environment before applying a sensitivity setting.

Accessing the sensitivity settings

  1. Open the Home + Security app.
  2. Go to Settings > Home management.
  3. Select the room, then the name of your camera.
  4. Tap Detection sensitivity.
  5. Select a category: People, Vehicles, or Animals.
  6. Choose the desired level and tap Confirm.

The three sensitivity levels

For each category, three levels are available:

More sensitive: Detects events more easily, including subtle movements or partially visible subjects. May increase the number of false alerts.

Default: Balanced setting for everyday use. Designed to limit false alerts while maintaining reliable detection.

Less sensitive: Triggers only for clear and sustained presence. Reduces the number of alerts but may miss minor or distant movements.

Note: Each category is independent. For example, you can keep the Default setting for people and choose Less sensitive for animals.
