My heating system cannot be turned ON and OFF too often, what can I do?

The ORIGINAL range uses an advanced heating control algorithm (PID) whenever possible. PID regulation works by turning the heating system ON and OFF periodically to maintain the best balance between comfort and energy efficiency.

However, some heating systems, such as wood pellet stoves or some heat pumps, should not be switched ON and OFF too frequently. To ensure proper operation and protect the equipment, minimum operating times should be respected between state changes, even if the setpoint is changed (automatically or manually).

Automatic setup depending on system type

To make setup easier, the control algorithm is automatically configured according to the type of heating system selected during installation.

During installation, you are asked to specify your heating system type. Based on this selection, default values for the minimum activation and deactivation times are automatically applied with the following values.

Customize the minimum heating time parameters

With the new ORIGINAL range, we have introduced customizable minimum heating time settings that prevent the heating system from switching ON or OFF too frequently.

You can easily configure these settings from the Settings menu of the product connected to your heating system:
Settings > Manage my home > [device's room] > [device's name] > Settings

  • When you modify the minimum time before activation, your heating system will not be allowed to switch from OFF to ON until the configured time has elapsed.

  • When you modify the minimum time before deactivation, your heating system will not be allowed to switch from ON to OFF until the configured time has elapsed.

Impact on the algorithm

When the minimum activation or deactivation times become significant, PID regulation is no longer the most effective method to optimize both comfort and energy efficiency.

In these situations, the system automatically switches to hysteresis-based regulation and adjusts the hysteresis thresholds to match the requirements of your heating system.
